About
Hey, I’m Thomas.
Designer, engineer, founder, and creative obsessive based in Boise, Idaho. I’ve spent the last two decades at the intersection of design and code, building things I believe in and helping others do the same.

If you’re trying to build something meaningful on the web, a product, a content business, a brand that actually looks like you, this site exists to help you do it.
I’ve spent nearly two decades in the trenches of design and development, and my goal is to save you the years of trial and error it took me to figure out what works. I started as a senior designer at a publishing house doing book covers and brand work, then taught myself to code because I kept having ideas that needed to exist as real software. That combination, fluency in both design and engineering, is what shapes every tool, article, and project I share here.
Along the way I’ve run a multidisciplinary studio for seven years, produced video for a developer-focused company, built WordPress sites for political and nonprofit clients, and shipped five SaaS products of my own, including NotablePress, a WordPress theme and plugin business I co-founded with John Meese and ran for over six years before selling it. I share that context only because it means what you’ll find here isn’t theory. It’s the actual thinking and practice I use in my own work, distilled into something you can apply to yours.
These days I build through Makeable Brand, a studio focused on modern web development and digital product design. Between client projects, I publish free tools, write about design thinking and content strategy, and document the systems behind sustainable creator businesses. If you want to work together directly, I’d love to hear what you’re building. If you’d rather learn on your own schedule, everything I publish is here for you.
Either way, I’m glad you’re here. Join the list and I’ll send you what I’m learning as I go.
